1947 Born Melbourne, Victoria , Australia.

1966-68 Secondary Teacher's Cert., Melbourne Teachers' College.

1969 Diploma in Fine Art (Painting), RMIT

1970-73 Secondary Art Teacher, Victorian State System

1974-75 Travelled Europe and Asia with the assistance of the Australia Council, Visual Arts Board.

1975-81 Half time Artist / Secondary Teacher

1981-85 Part time Commercial Cray fisherman Victorian licence.

1986-03 Part time Lecturer in Painting, Drawing and Art History at Department of Art and Design – Chisholm Institute TAFE

2004-> John continues in full time art practice.
